About The Scrabble Game Play
The Scrabble board game, despite it’s simplicity, has remained popular for decades now and it still remains one of the worlds most favourite board games next to the board game of Monopoly.

The aim of the gae is to pick a selection of 7 tiles from a bag or a face down arrangement of tiles. From those tiles you then have to create the longest word possible in the given time set by the egg timer. A History Of The Scrabble Board Game
Alfred Mosher Butts is the person we need to thank for having the Scrabble board game today. He released the game back in 1938, just a few years after the hugely successful Monopoly game was released onto the market as well. The game was a variation of a game which Butts had already released called Lexiko and the Scrabble game was known by the name of “Criss-Crosswords”. Unfortunately for Butts though the game wasn’t really much of a success and he ended up selling the rights to it to a genteleman called James Brunot. However, despite the fact the game was sold it still remained unsuccessful and in remained that way until 1952 when Jack Straus played the board game whilst he was on holiday. Straus was the owner of the toy giant, Macy’s.
Some time later the game was bought up by toy giant Hasbro, and the rest as they say is history.

Since the Scrabble board game was introduced back in the year 1938 there have been multiple varations, versions, editions and special editions.
